This year will be the year 4708, the year of the TIGER which begins on February 14, 2010 and ends on February 2, 2011.

The Chinese Community of the Greater Washington Metropolitan area is going to celebrate the "Chinese Lunar New Year" in Washington, DC Chinatown on H & I Streets, NW, between 6th and 8th Streets, Sunday, February 21 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA), Chinatown Revitalization Council (CRC) and Chinatown Chamber of Commerce are very proud to sponsor this event. The festival includes folk dances, musical bands from various genres, local high school, cultural exhibition and a parade. The popular lion and dragon dances, as well as a five-story high firecracker that will be lit at 3:45 p.m. will also be featured in the program. Please bring your friends and family to join us for this exciting and joyful event which routinely attracts more than 30,000 patrons/tourists. Chinese New Year Lion Dance, February 14, 12-3pm, Walters Art Museum, 600 N. Charles Street Baltimore, MD 21201. Join the second annual Chinese New Year at the Walters Art Museum! With beating drums, crashing cymbals and ringing gongs, The Johns Hopkins University Lion Dance Troupe will herald the Year of the Tiger. Traditionally, the Lion Dance promises good fortune for the coming year, which at the Walters includes an ongoing series of museum education programs as part of Exploring Asia: Connecting Art and Community, investigating the arts of China, Japan and India. Chinese New Year Events at Lakeforest Mall, February 8–21. In the 11th Annual Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration - Year of the Tiger - Chinese culture comes alive this month at this free family event. Beautiful decor hangs throughout the mall, including a hand-painted banner of the Great Wall of China. Come for the opening ceremony, featuring the magnificent traditional lion dance on February 13 at 12 noon. The weekends of February 13-14 and February 20-21 include live entertainment at Center Court, 12 - 5 p.m. Demonstrations and exhibits throughout the mall highlight this year's theme.
