ANNAPOLIS FOURTH OF JULY PARADE AND FIREWORKS, Sunday, July 4.
Come experience an old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration including a Parade 6 p.m.; Concert at 8 p.m by the USNA Electric Brigade Band and Fireworks at. 9:15 p.m. The parade begins at 6 p.m. stepping off from Amos Garrett Blvd., then proceeds right on West St., around Church Circle, down Main Street, left on Randall St., and ends in front of the Market House. At approximately 9:15 p.m., the fireworks will be launched from Farragut Field, on the USNA yard. Parking will be restricted in many areas but is available at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium off Rowe Boulevard. A FREE shuttle will be provided by the City of Annapolis from the Stadium to the downtown area at Lawyer’s Mall in front of the State House. The shuttle operates from 4:00 p.m. to midnight. The whole family will enjoy this spectacular musical celebration as we salute this great land and the common bond that we, the people, share. Hear your favorite American songs and patriotic anthems including the Armed Forces Salute, 1812 Overture, Stars and Stripes and Copland’s Lincoln Portrait performed by the Maryland Symphony Orchestra. The evening will be capped off with Fireworks at approximately 9:45 p.m. There is a minimum one hour to ninety minute traffic delay when leaving the event so be patient.
Be sure to bring a blanket, plenty of water or soft drinks, and a flashlight. Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service sell food and drinks at the event. Limited parking is available in the park and additional parking can be found on Rt. 65 and Rt. 34 bordering the park. You have to walk to get into and out of the event.
A shuttle bus is available to bring you closer to the event from Rt. 34, but there is still a 300 yard walk. Buses run from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The cost is $2.00 round-trip and children under five are free. A 4th of July tradition in the nation's capital includes a live concert by the National Symphony Orchestra and several pop artists performing patriotic music on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building. The concert and show is followed by a spectacular display of fireworks over the Washington Monument. The concert is free and open to the public. No tickets are necessary. The annual event is broadcast live on PBS with a repeat airing at 9:30-11:00 p.m
4th of July Fireworks on the National Mall
At dark, usually around 9:15 p.m. Rain Date: July 5th. The fireworks are launched from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and light up the sky over the Washington Monument.
