The Arts Council offers classes and workshops for children, teens, and adults. Classes are offered in arts and crafts, dance, and drama. Classes are catered to both beginning or experienced artists looking to have fun, pick up a new hobby, or brush up on skills. In addition they have Bright StARTS which offers workshops taught by professional artist/educators in a wide variety of artistic disciplines and media. These disciplines include; painting, drawing, sculpture, drama, dance, music, spoken word and poetry. Since 2003, the Bright StARTS Art Program began servicing Baltimore City students through after-school programs. The workshops are primarily designed for children ages 7 – 13, although throughout the program year (October – June) several special programs are offered for teens 14 – 19 and younger children 5 – 6. The vast majority of students served in the Bright StARTS Art Program are residents from low – moderate income, communities in Baltimore City,

Courses for children, teens, and adults can be special one day workshops addressing a particular theme or skill or six to eight week long sessions.. All instructors are practicing artists. Arabesque Dance Studio, 6935 Oakland Mills Road, Suite J, Columbia. MD 21045. Founded in 1966, they are celebrating their 45th year. Registration is now being taken for classes for ages 2 ½ through adults, specializing in pre-school through professional. The Arabesque Dance Company offers gifted and aspiring dancers the chance to perform in The Nutcracker Ballet and the end of the year production number. Competition Dance Team also available for the more serious student.. Classes available in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop plus ZUMBA for adults. New this year is Dance with Me – a dance program for parent, grandparent or caregiver and child age 20 months to 3 years. Mommy and Me is a movement program for adult and child walking through age 3.
